HumanLayer Systems Inc. ("we", "our", "HumanLayer") is committed to protecting the privacy of users of our platform. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

1. Data collected

We collect the following information:

• Identity information: Last name, first name, email address, phone number (optional), LinkedIn profile; for API clients, company name and email address
• Professional information: Area of expertise, qualifications, years of experience, stated capacity, motivation, authorization, jurisdictions
• Decision data: Content of requests sent by AI agents (summary, context, jurisdiction), decisions rendered, justifications, timestamps
• Technical data: IP addresses (logins, sensitive actions, decisions), access logs

2. Use of data

Your data is used to:

• Verify your professional qualifications and authorizations
• Route decision requests to qualified Sentinels
• Document and timestamp decisions for audit trails
• Calculate and pay compensation
• Improve our services and prevent fraud

3. Legal basis for processing

• Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide our services
• Legal obligations: Retention of audit trails, regulatory compliance
• Legitimate interests: Security, fraud prevention, service improvement

4. Data sharing

We never sell your personal data. We may share it with:

• API clients: A pseudonymous Sentinel reference (S-XXXXXX) attached to each decision, without name, contact details or qualifications
• Processors: Hosting providers, payment processors (under confidentiality agreements)
• Authorities: Only upon valid legal request

5. Data retention

• Account data: Retained for the duration of the contractual relationship + 5 years
• Audit trails: Retained for at least 10 years (legal requirements)
• Technical data: Maximum of 12 months

6. Your rights

In accordance with GDPR and Quebec Law 25, you have the following rights:

• Access: Obtain a copy of your personal data
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate information
• Erasure: Request deletion (subject to legal obligations)
• Portability: Receive your data in a structured format
• Objection: Object to certain processing

7. Cookies

We do not use cookies. The client and Sentinel portals keep your session token in your browser’s storage (localStorage or sessionStorage), only to keep you signed in. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when they load. No advertising or analytics trackers are used.

8. International transfers

Your data may be processed in Canada and the United States. Appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses) govern any transfer outside the EU/Quebec.
